Normani reveals accident behind cancelled BET Awards appearance

Norman has detailed why she canceled her appearance at the BET Awards at the last minute.

About 30 minutes before the awards ceremony in Los Angeles, which begins on Sunday, June 30, the 28-year-old singer announced on social media that a “really bad accident” had forced her to do so.

“I’m more frustrated and disappointed than anyone, believe me,” Normani wrote on Instagram Stories, also sharing a photo of herself leaning on crutches with one knee wrapped in a bandage. “I had a really bad accident while rehearsing for BET and injured myself. I’m usually good at persevering under any circumstances, but unfortunately, due to my doctor’s orders, I’m unable to make this performance.”

The former Fifth Harmony member wrote that despite her hopes, performing on stage would have delayed “my healing” and that the final decision left her “devastated” and “feeling like a disappointment” to her fans.

She also thanked the BET Awards for even giving her the opportunity to go on stage. “Sending my love to BET for giving me and all the other beautiful black women this opportunity,” she wrote in the post.

The singer of “1:59”, whose planned performance was promoted by the BET Awards in the run-up to the ceremony, released her debut solo album, Dopamineon June 14th.

After Fifth Harmony’s break in 2017, Normani released several singles, including “Motivation,” “Wild Side” with Cardi B and “Waves” – but their debut album was not long in coming.

Normani told We weekly In 2017, she said she was still trying to define herself as a solo artist. “I’ve felt for so long that people have an idea of ​​who I am within the context of the group,” she said Us. “Even within myself, I was kind of comfortable with it. The singer continued, “I think people kind of forget that I’m human. Admittedly, I’m really grateful that everyone continues to be so enthusiastic. I feel like that’s unheard of, especially after so long.”
