Man charged after Irvinestown shooting

A 26-year-old man has been charged following a shooting in Irvinestown on Friday evening (June 28).

A PSNI spokesman said: “The 26-year-old has been charged with possession of a firearm or imitation firearm with intent to cause fear or violence, possession of a class A and C drug and possession of ammunition in suspicious circumstances.”

“He is due to appear before Enniskillen Magistrates’ Court on Monday 1 July. As usual, the charges will be considered by the Crown Prosecution Service.

“The charges relate to a report that a shot was fired from a vehicle travelling on Kesh Road in the direction of two men on Friday evening, June 28. No injuries were reported.

“Meanwhile, a 32-year-old man who was also arrested in connection with this investigation has been released on bail pending further police enquiries.”
