Terrible accident: Eurocity Prague-Budapest collides with bus in Slovakia, 4 dead – VIDEO

A serious accident occurred at a railway crossing near Érsekújvár (Nové Zámky) in Slovakia, in which a Eurocity train no. 279 from Prague to Budapest collided with a bus. Four people were killed and five injured in the accident.

In the accident, the bus broke in two, drifted to the side of the road, caught fire and overturned. The locomotive of the Czech railway company České dráhy also caught fire as a result of the collision. 444.hu reports.

There were around 100 people on the train, which was driven by a Czech railway employee. The passengers were evacuated and the road was closed. The Slovak railway sent replacement buses to the scene of the accident, where several ambulances and rescue helicopters have since arrived.

According to Slovak news site NapunkInterior Minister Matúš Šutaj-Eštok and Deputy Police Commissioner Rastislav Polakovič will arrive at the scene of the accident shortly.

The Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) said that due to the accident, the arrival of the Eurocity trains from Bratislava-Štúrovo on Thursday evening is uncertain.
