Carlinville man charged in Alton knife attack

EDWARDSVILLE – A Carlinville man has been charged with aggravated assault after attacking another person with a knife in Alton.

The 33-year-old suspect was charged on June 24 with two counts of aggravated assault, both Class 3 felonies.

The case was presented by the Alton Police Department.

According to court documents, the suspect attacked a woman with a knife on June 21, causing numerous injuries.

According to a motion by the Madison County District Attorney’s Office to deny pretrial release, the suspect found the victim and attacked her with a knife, saying that if he saw her again, he would “set her on fire and run her over.” He then stabbed her multiple times in the body with the knife, causing chest, facial and head injuries.

In separate cases, two people were also charged with mob actions on Monday.

A 25-year-old Alton man has been charged with mob activity and criminal damage to property, both Class 4 felonies.

The case was presented by the Alton Police Department.

According to court documents, on February 4, in the parking lot of the Comfort Inn at 11 Crossroads Court, the suspect and another unidentified man repeatedly struck a third man in the head and body and caused over $500 in damage to a Ford Mustang owned by another person by driving their vehicle into the victim’s vehicle.

His release from custody was ordered.

In a separate mob activity case, a 29-year-old Collinsville man was charged with mob activity, a Class 4 felony.

The case was presented by the Collinsville Police Department.

According to court documents, the suspect and another person repeatedly beat a third man on June 22.

His release from custody was ordered.

In a related case, a 22-year-old Glen Carbon woman was charged with concealing or aiding a fugitive, a Class 4 felony.

The case was presented by the Collinsville Police Department.

According to court documents, on June 22, the suspect “knowingly harbored, concealed, or aided” the other suspect in the mob action case.

Her release from custody was ordered.

These individuals have only been charged and remain innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Not all charges may be reported.
