Registered sex offender arrested in York County for alleged assault on 13-year-old

YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – A 62-year-old registered sex offender was arrested after a 13-year-old reported a sexual assault, officials said.

According to officials, the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office received a complaint on June 24 regarding a 13-year-old who had been sexually abused by an adult male in York County.

The attack is said to have taken place in the suspect’s apartment.

Investigators were able to identify the suspect as 62-year-old Daniel Martin Russell. They also determined that he is a registered sex offender.

Russell was arrested on June 25 and charged with aggravated sexual assault and indecent conduct with a child.

Russell is currently being held at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
