A woman was killed in a collision with a truck in Anchorage’s Mountain View neighborhood on Monday, police said.

A water truck traveling west on Commercial Drive crossed the center line and struck the woman’s sedan, which was traveling east, police said in a statement. Officers were called to the crash just before noon Monday.

The woman driving the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene by Anchorage Fire Department paramedics, police said. The driver of the truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with the crash investigation, police said.

Police will not determine the identity of the deceased woman until her family has been notified, police said. No charges or summons have been issued in connection with the accident, police said.

“The dynamics of the collision, including what caused the truck driver to cross the center line, are still under investigation,” the police statement said.

Commercial Drive will be closed between the two ends of Rampart Drive, both of which connect to Commercial Drive, while police investigate the scene, they said. Motorists are asked to use an alternate route.

Police also asked anyone who witnessed the accident to contact dispatch at 3-1-1 or 907-786-8900.
