Osun: Police arrest hunter for ‘raping’ woman at gunpoint

The Osun State Police have arrested local hunter, Ogunbunmi Jelili, for allegedly raping a woman at gunpoint.

The incident was learnt to have occurred at the weekend at Poyika Adewumi village in Via Olode in Ife South Local Government of the state.

According to the investigation, the suspect attacked his victim, an 18-year-old woman, and her boyfriend Daniel around 8 p.m. and threatened to kill them.

It was believed that Daniel ran away when he saw the gun in the suspect’s hand.

The findings showed that the suspect dragged the woman into the bus and had sexual intercourse with her.

Osun Police spokesperson Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident to Blueprint correspondent on Sunday.

She explained that the case was reported by Daniel, who claimed he had gone out with his girlfriend to buy a soft drink when the suspect attacked her with a gun and threatened to kill her.

Opalola announced that the suspect was arrested with a Dane weapon and his case was referred to the Criminal Investigation Department.
