Man killed in downtown shooting

INDIANAPOLIS – Police are investigating after a man was killed in a shooting in downtown Indianapolis Saturday night.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the intersection of East Washington Street and Alabama Street shortly before 11 p.m. because a person had been shot.


When officers arrived, they found an adult male with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. Investigators say he was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition but later died from his injuries.

IMPD said it arrested an adult male as a suspect, but both were taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

Investigators said the suspect ran down Washington Street before being arrested, resulting in several temporary road closures in the area.
