One arrested after fleeing accident in Stutsman County

BISMARCK, N.D. (KXNET) — A man is now facing charges for leaving the scene of a car crash he caused on the morning of June 22.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a Chevy Malibu was traveling east on 25th Street one mile southeast of Spiritwood Lake at about 2:13 a.m. when it left the road and entered the north ditch before coming to a stop in a field northeast of the road.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle (a 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman from Jamestown, respectfully) reportedly left the scene of the accident and walked to a nearby resort, getting away before police arrived. Neither attempted to report the accident.

The passenger suffered minor injuries in the accident. The driver was later tracked down and arrested for loss of control of his body and leaving the scene of an accident causing personal injury.
