Surfside Pier in Wildwood, New Jersey, briefly evacuated after man pulled out gun: police

WILDWOOD, New Jersey (WPVI) – Police evacuated the Surfside Pier along the Wildwood Boardwalk on Saturday evening.

This happened sometime between 7 and 8 p.m.

A spokesman for Morey’s Piers, which owns Surfside Pier, said the evacuation was done at the request of police as a precautionary measure.

According to police, the man pulled out a gun and was later arrested.

No one was injured and the pier has now reopened.

(Correction: An earlier report said two piers were evacuated.)
