Yordan Alvarez scores his first at-bat since his return

“Most importantly, the family is doing well,” manager Joe Espada said before the game. “We’re delighted to have him back, obviously.”

Alvarez arrived at the visitors’ clubhouse at Guaranteed Rate Field about two hours before the first pitch and was in the starting lineup as the designated hitter.

Facing White Sox starter Chris Flexen, Alvarez homered in his first at-bat, his 15th of the season. Alvarez got a 1-0 cutter and hit it 439 feet to right-center field.
