LANDMARKS. WE’RE FOLLOWING BREAKING NEWS OF A MAJOR POLICE SHOOTING NEAR A PARK IN MILWAUKEE. THE SCENE IS PLAYING OUT RIGHT ON THE NORTH SIDE OF WASHINGTON PARK. THAT’S RIGHT NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF SHERMAN AND LLOYD. TONIGHT, 12 NEWS WILL BE ERICA FINK BROUGHT LIVE FROM THAT AREA. AND ERICA, YOU HEARD WHAT SOUNDS LIKE GUNSHOTS IN THAT AREA. RIGHT. SO LET ME SHOW YOU EXACTLY WHAT’S HAPPENING BEHIND ME. SO YOU CAN SEE THAT THERE ARE DOZENS OF POLICE OFFICERS HERE. AND THERE’S A LOT OF CRIME SCENE BROKEN DOWN AROUND THIS ENTIRE INTERSECTION AS WELL. YOU CAN SEE IN THE BACK THAT THERE ARE AT LEAST TWO VISIBLE EVIDENCE MARKERS HERE AT THIS INTERSECTION. BUT JUST BEFORE 9 AM, LIKE YOU SAID, WE HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE RAPID SHOTS CLOSE TO THE INTERSECTION. SO TAKE A VIDEO, LOOK AT THIS VIDEO WE CAME UP EARLIER AS WE GET THERE, BRIEF EYES AFTER THE OFFICERS HAVE OUT OF THE PARK AND CAME HERE TO SHERMAN AND LLOYD WHERE THERE ARE DOZENS OF POLICE OFFICERS STANDING AROUND THE INTERSECTION. SINCE WE’VE BEEN HERE, THE COMMISSIONERS HAVE BEEN ADDING MORE AND MORE CRIME SCENE TAPES. SO THE INTERSECTION IS COMPLETELY CLOSED OFF NOW, BUT THERE IS A RED CRIME SCENE AREA ON THE NORTH END OF WASHINGTON PARK. BUT I HAVE REACHED OUT TO THE MILWAUKEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND THE MILWAUKEE POLICE, BUT SO FAR THE DETAILS ARE LIMITED HERE. BUT OUT HERE, LIVE, A SPOKESPERSON FOR THE MILWAUKEE SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT TELLS ME THERE WILL BE AN UPDATE ON THIS INCIDENT FOR THE MEDIA TONIGHT. BUT NOW LIVE IN MILWAUKEE. A large police presence was reported near Washington Park in Milwaukee on Wednesday evening. WISN 12 News reporter Erica Finke reported hearing what sounded like gunshots. The medical examiner told 12 News they were not called to the scene. In a late evening press conference, Chief Deputy Daniel Hughes of the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office said a Milwaukee teenager had died, a second teenager was injured and a third was taken into custody. A large police presence was reported near Washington Park in Milwaukee Wednesday evening. WISN 12 News reporter Erica Finke reported hearing what sounded like gunshots.

The coroner told 12 News that they were not called to the scene of the accident.
