Police continue investigation after boy taken to hospital after dog attack

A boy was injured in a dog attack at a shopping centre in Weymouth.

Dorset Police have now issued a statement saying that a boy’s hand and leg were injured in the attack at Littlemoor shopping centre at around 2.40pm yesterday.

The boy was taken to hospital. Police believe his injuries are not serious.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: “We received a report at 2.40pm on Saturday 15 June that a boy had been bitten by a dog at Littlemoor Shopping Centre in Weymouth.

“The victim suffered injuries to his hand and leg and went to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be serious.”

“Officers were on site and searched the area. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.”

People reportedly heard a scream and saw that the boy – estimated to be about six years old – was bleeding “profusely”.
