Man arrested for murder 5 months after fatal shooting in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, NC (WGHP) — Five months after a shooting that left one person dead, a man is facing murder charges, Greensboro police said.

On January 21, at around 2:16 a.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Meadowview Road after receiving a report of a shooting.


At the scene, police found 36-year-old Gabriel Salazar-Lopez with life-threatening injuries in a gravel parking lot.

He was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

A second person was also shot, but was released after receiving medical treatment.

On Friday, the GPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team arrested 32-year-old Jose Luis Rea-Lopez and charged him with first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and aggravated assault.

Rea-Lopez will be detained without prison sentence and will appear in court on Monday.
