One dead and four injured in car crash near Los Alamos – edhat

One person died and four others were injured in a car accident on Highway 101 near Los Alamos.

At 4:36 p.m. Thursday, Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to a call in the northbound lanes about a mile south of Alisos Canyon Road.

A vehicle reportedly traveling southbound entered the northbound lane and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle, traffic data shows.

The firefighters discovered a total of five patients. One person was declared dead at the scene, two had serious injuries and two had moderate injuries. Both vehicles had to be recovered.

Highway 101 northbound was closed for some time as the medical evacuation helicopter landed on the road.

The helicopter transported a woman with serious injuries to Marian Regional Medical Center. A toddler with serious injuries and two adults with moderate injuries were transported by two ambulances to Marian Regional Medical Center.


Fatal accident on the 101 near Los Alamos

At approximately 4:45 p.m., a collision occurred about a mile north of Alisos Canyon Road in the northbound lanes of 101. Reports indicate that a Nissan left the southbound lane and collided head-on with a Ford Ranger. Two people were taken to Marion Medical Center with serious injuries. One person was pronounced dead at the scene upon arrival of emergency responders.

The 101 northbound remains closed as of 5:25 p.m.
