Hit and run accident reported in downtown New Haven

NEW HAVEN – On June 5 at around 12 p.m., a truck reportedly collided sideways with a delivery truck on Orange Street in downtown New Haven.

Witnesses immediately alerted the owner of the van, who observed the truck turning onto Chapel Street towards Church Street.

The owner of the van followed the truck and caught up with the driver at a red light.

The driver initially agreed to exchange information and return to the scene of the accident.

However, when the traffic light turned green, the driver fled and did not return.

The owner of the van took pictures of the truck before it left the scene of the accident, but was unable to get a clear picture of the license plate as it appeared to be obscured by a device.

The police are currently unable to identify the truck.
