Harbor Beach man convicted of sexually abusing three children

A Huron County jury has convicted a Harbor Beach man of sexually abusing three children.

The jury deliberated for about an hour before finding 59-year-old Keith Brian Bouverette guilty of two counts of third-degree sexual assault and one count of fourth-degree sexual abuse after a two-day trial Wednesday afternoon.

During the two days of testimony, the three victims, now adults, were also present and testified to the abuse Bouverette inflicted on them as children. One of them was 8 years old when the abuse began and lasted for about two years.

Third-degree sexual assault is a felony punishable by one to 15 years in prison. Fourth-degree sexual assault is a misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison and/or a $500 fine.

Judge Gerald M. Prill of the 52nd District Court of Huron County has scheduled sentencing for Monday, August 19, at 9 a.m.

Prill also revoked Bouverette’s bail and turned him over to the Huron County Sheriff’s Office. Bouverette was lodged in the Huron County Jail to await sentencing.
