Arrest warrant issued after brutal attack on fast-food worker in DuBois | WTAJ

DUBOIS, Pa. (WTAJ) – An arrest warrant was issued after Sandy Township police said a man assaulted a Burger King employee who was on overnight bail Tuesday.

The arrest warrant was issued against 59-year-old Richard William Smeal.

According to police, Smeal approached a worker in the parking lot on Bee Line Highway around 1 a.m. on June 11. He was reportedly wearing a ski mask and carrying an airsoft gun, which was originally an AR-style assault rifle.

Police said the employee refused to hand over her wallet, which contained the store’s overnight deposit. A struggle ensued, leaving the employee “seriously injured,” a police news release said.

Smeal left the scene with a getaway driver when another vehicle pulled into the parking lot. They then eluded police. John Lentz, the accused driver, was arrested later that morning at his home in Pennfield.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Smeal. He is 59 years old and is described as a white male, 5’5″ tall and weighing approximately 135 pounds. He has blue eyes, a red-gray beard and thinning reddish-brown hair.

**Smeal is considered dangerous**

Anyone with information on Smeal’s whereabouts is asked to call 814-765-1533 or 911.
