LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Four people shot and killed a 19-year-old in a “gunfire spree” during a marijuana deal, prosecutors said.

Ammir Foreman died in the May 14 shooting near Nellis Boulevard and Stewart Avenue, prosecutors said. Police arrested 21-year-old Jeremiah Smith a day after the killing, records say. A Clark County grand jury later indicted Smith on charges including murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Police had not publicly identified the three other co-conspirators as of Wednesday. Smith and three others are said to have conspired to rob Foreman during a marijuana deal. After meeting outside the East Valley apartment complex, the meeting ended in “a volley of fire,” prosecutors said.

Police found 45 shell casings at the scene, several of them buried in the dirt beneath Foreman’s body, suggesting that “at least one of the shooters stood over him and finished him off,” prosecutors said.

Investigators believe Foreman fired two bullets from his gun in self-defense, while the other four fired the remaining 43 bullets. In an interview with police, Smith said he did not intend to kill Foreman and only fired into the air, documents say.

The murder is the third in a series of cases involving the sale of marijuana.

Last month, police arrested a man on charges of murder and conspiracy to kill 25-year-old Kaito Thornton in 2023. Police found Thorton dead in a car on October 22, 2023 with numerous gunshot wounds.

Police suspect 21-year-old Deaundra Talton of paying Thorton $500 for marijuana and then killing him.

In a third case, several teenagers are accused of plotting the murder of Andre Bryant, 33, a marijuana supplier who was killed in September 2023.

A judge will decide Thursday whether Smith can be released on bail. Smith’s lawyer had asked the judge to grant him house arrest on $100,000 bail.
