Sheriff: Stranger beat and sexually assaulted 91-year-old woman in Marion County home – WFTV

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Marion County Sheriff’s investigators are searching for a man who allegedly broke into the home of a 91-year-old woman, beat her and then sexually assaulted her.

Sheriff Billy Woods said it happened around midnight Sunday at a home in Reddick.

Woods used Facebook to provide the public with information about the “cruel act of violence.”

He did not provide any details about the scene or a description of a suspect, but Woods’ message to the suspect and the public was stern.

“To the person in charge: I will find out who you are.”

To anyone withholding information about the suspect, Woods said, “If I find out that you have harbored us, hidden us, or have no desire to even call us, I will do everything I can to charge you and put you in the same cell that they will end up in.”

Woods added that his detectives are working tirelessly to find the suspect in the case.

He called on the public to help investigators find the wanted man.

“We must stand together to protect our most vulnerable citizens.”

The sheriff is asking residents in the Reddick area who have seen anything suspicious or noticed anything unusual on their surveillance cameras to contact the Marion County Sheriff’s Office at 352-732-9111.
