Teenager dead after car crash Sunday in Texas County

GUYMON, Okla. (KAMR/KCIT) – Guymon City officials report a fatal crash occurred around 10:01 p.m. Sunday on County Road D about a quarter mile east of mile marker 33 and approximately 12 miles north of Guymon in Texas County.

According to authorities, a 16-year-old teenager from Hooker, Oklahoma, was traveling westbound in a 1998 Dodge Ram, “when the driver encountered a pothole in the road. He apparently attempted to avoid the pothole, swerved to the right and then over-corrected.”

Officials said the Dodge Ram began to slide to the left when it left the roadway, entered a ditch, became airborne, and then rolled about two and a half times. The driver was thrown about 30 feet from the vehicle.

This accident was investigated by Trooper Montana Moon #212 of the Cimarron/Texas County Detachment of Troop I and assisted by Lieutenant Erick Brown #145, Hooker Fire Department, Hooker EMS, Hooker Police Department and Texas County Sheriff’s Department.
