Officer ID found dead with stab wound at West Side bus stop

SAN ANTONIO — A man found dead with a stab wound at a West Side bus stop earlier this week has been identified.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office identified him as Frank Hernandez, 24.

San Antonio police said officers received a call for a welfare check around 9:20 a.m. Monday at a bus stop near West Poplar and North Zarzamora streets, not far from Woodlawn Lake.

According to police, officers arrived and found Hernandez had been stabbed in the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

SAPD searched the area and arrested two men nearby. It is unknown whether they were suspects in the case.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
