Fear, tension and difficult decisions are omnipresent in the stealthy zombie survival game Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days

Personally, I prefer slow zombies to fast zombies—and not just because I have bad knees and can’t run faster than a toddler, let alone a starving member of the rotting undead. In my opinion, zombie scares in games and movies are more effective when they’re built on a creeping dread rather than outright horror, a slowly building tension that gradually builds as more zombies approach from all sides.

That’s why Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days looks so damn good in a new trailer revealed today at the PC Gaming Show. The 2.5D sidescroller from developer PikPok is bursting with atmosphere and tension. Sure, there are zombies bursting through windows and clawing at survivors, but they’re the slow, shuffling zombie types that give you just enough time to kick one away before running up a ladder to safety. Those are my zombies.
