Chiefs’ BJ Thompson awake and conscious after cardiac arrest

Chiefs defensive end BJ Thompson is awake a day after being hospitalized for a medical emergency, his agent Chris Turnage told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Friday.

Thompson was admitted to a Kansas City hospital on Thursday after suffering a seizure and cardiac arrest, according to sources.

Turnage had previously told Fowler that doctors had been optimistic about Thompson’s recovery before he woke up.

Thompson was selected by the Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2023 draft out of Stephen F. Austin. As a rookie, he played in one game and recorded two tackles.
