Traffic Alert: Access to Walmart from KY 54 closed until Friday

According to state and county officials, access to Walmart from KY 54 will remain closed through Friday as preparation work continues for the planned highway widening project.

A Kentucky Transportation Cabinet contractor is temporarily closing Mt. Moriah Avenue at the entrance to Walmart on KY 54 to install underground utility lines, according to KYTC. Only the section of Mt. Moriah Avenue that extends from KY 54 to the parking lot will be closed. The closure is expected to last through Friday.

There will be no marked detour, but the KYTC has placed signs in the area to alert motorists of the temporary closure.

To access the Walmart parking lot, drivers must go to Fairview Drive. The section of Mt. Moriah Avenue leading from Fairview to the parking lot remains open. Drivers can also take Kidron Valley Way from Fairview to get to the parking lot.

This project is similar to recent work at the Hayden Road entrance near Gateway Commons.
