16-year-old boy from Glasgow arrested after serious sexual assault of woman near Hydro

A 16-year-old boy was arrested after a woman was the victim of a serious sexual assault near the Hydro.

Police received reports of a woman allegedly being assaulted on Congress Road in Glasgow on Friday evening (31 May). Officers were dispatched and the area was immediately cordoned off.



On Saturday, an eyewitness said: “Clydeside at SEC Armadillo is cordoned off by police and a large section of bushes is cordoned off and guarded by four police officers.”

Police have now confirmed that a 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the incident. He has been released pending further investigations.

A Scottish Police spokesman said: “We received a report of a serious sexual assault on a woman in the Congress Road area of ​​Glasgow on the evening of Friday 31 May 2024.”

“A 16-year-old male was arrested in connection with this incident and released pending further investigations. The investigation is ongoing.”
