A few sunny and dry days before the probability of rain increases again at the end of the month

After the third day in a row of some showers in western Wisconsin, drier air finally takes over tonight as a high pressure system builds into the Midwestern United States from Canada. Scattered showers have largely dissipated as the daytime warmth has receded, and skies have mostly cleared. Light winds will make for a rather cool start to the morning, with temperatures between 7 and 9 degrees Celsius. We can expect plenty of sunshine throughout the day, with only a few scattered clouds forming in the afternoon. The breeze will be light, the high center is close, and it will move closer to average again, with highs between 15 and 21 degrees Celsius.

On Wednesday and Thursday, a high pressure area will affect the Midwest.

As the high moves east, a wind will develop from the southeast and south. The result will be a little warmer on Thursday as sunshine continues and temperatures reach the seasonable mid-70s. It will also get a little windier. Unfortunately, this will be the last completely dry weather as we end the month of May on Friday. The next front will cross the Plains and head toward the state Thursday night, with rain chances increasing by Friday morning. With that chance of rain, clouds should be predominant throughout the day, affecting temperatures with highs just above 70 degrees at best. As we enter the first weekend of June, forecast details will become more uncertain as there are differences in the speed at which the front will pass and the arrival of another wave of energy to the west. This calls for at least slight rain chances on both Saturday and Sunday, but both days look predominantly dry at this point. As the pattern becomes clearer, we should have more confidence in those details over the next few days. It looks like it will be warmer during this time, with highs just above 80 degrees by Sunday. The warmer weather should continue through early next week, and with the arrival of another front, rain chances could increase starting next Monday.
