A Fort Liberty soldier was shot and killed in Fayetteville

The man shot in Fayetteville on Saturday was a soldier from Fort Liberty.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) — The man shot in Fayetteville on Saturday was a soldier from Fort Liberty.

Fayetteville police said Jonah Taylor, 21, was shot about 3 a.m. May 4 on Ramsey Street in north Fayetteville.

He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he ultimately died from his injuries.

Three days later, police confirmed that Taylor was with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Liberty. He was from Mississippi.

No further details were released about Taylor or the circumstances of his death.
