Pune: Customs investigators entered a pub in Kalyani Nagar around 11.45 pm on Saturday when nearly 500 patrons were enjoying their drinks and dancing. Amid boos, the officials asked the DJ to turn off the music and asked the crowd to leave. Minutes later, the pub was sealed on the orders of the revenue officer, who announced several violations on the premises. The fatal accident on May 19 took place near this pub, Ballr. “We filed a complaint against the pub on Thursday after we found internal changes on the premises; the register was not maintained as per the FL-III license. The pub was selling liquor to patrons without verifying their age,” said customs officer Charan Singh Rajput. A report has been submitted to the revenue officer’s office. “On Saturday, the tax officer issued an order to seal Ballr, which was enforced during the night.” Heramb Shelke, trademark owner of Ballr, said they had submitted their DVRs and the register to the customs department. “We are cooperating with the authorities. Action has been taken against 71 such establishments in the city.” When a TOI reporter came near the pub at 11.50 pm, disappointed youths returned to their vehicles cursing the accident and the minor.
