ACPD: Maryland man arrested for aggravated assault on police officer

ARLINGTON COUNTY, Virginia (DC News Now) — Police in Arlington County said a Waldorf, Maryland, man was arrested Sunday for assault on a police officer.

Shortly before 1 a.m., an Arlington County Police Department (ACPD) officer was enforcing parking fines in the 2900 block of Columbia Pike when he noticed a man attempting to confront a security officer.

The officer approached 29-year-old Otis Brown and attempted to intervene.

According to police, Brown pushed the officer into a car, causing property damage, then punched him multiple times before fleeing the scene with a woman.

He was arrested at the corner of Columbia Pike and S. Glebe Road.

The officer was taken to the hospital and treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Brown has been charged with assault on police officers, aggravated assault and criminal damage. He is being held without bail at the Arlington County Detention Center.
