15-year-old girl fights back against would-be rapist in horrific attack in NYC park: police

A 15-year-old girl fought off a maniac who tried to rape her in a Bronx park in a horrific attack, police say.

The teenager was walking along a path in Pelham Bay Park around 5 p.m. on Saturday when the strange man approached her and spoke to her, police said.

He then put her in a headlock and dragged her into a wooded area of ​​the park, where he attempted to sexually assault her, authorities said.

The brave teenager managed to fend off her attacker, who fled the scene, police said.

The victim refused medical attention for minor injuries, police said.

Her attacker – pictured in a mug shot released by the New York Police Department late Thursday – is described as being between 20 and 30 years old with medium skin, a slim build, a mustache, curly eyelashes and thick eyebrows.

He was last seen wearing a green hoodie and black sweatpants.

The sickening attack came weeks after Kashaan Parks, 39, allegedly grabbed a 45-year-old woman from behind with a belt, dragged her unconscious and raped her between two parked cars at the corner of East 152nd Street and Third Avenue in the South Bronx, police said.

Last week, 30-year-old Thomas Barnaby was arrested on suspicion of raping a 12-year-old girl in a series of incidents in late December in a building on the corner of East 165th Street and River Avenue in the Concourse neighborhood of the Bronx, police said.
