Suburban Chicago man sentenced to 58 years in prison for burglary and sexual assault of 92-year-old woman

CHICAGO (CBS) — A Glendale Heights man has been sentenced to 58 years in prison for Burglary of a home and sexual abuse of a 92-year-old woman in 2021the DuPage County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday.

In January, after two days of deliberations, a jury found 58-year-old Anthony Lane guilty of one count of trespassing and three counts of aggravated sexual assault.

On November 22, 2021, at approximately 6 p.m., the victim returned home from his dialysis appointment and entered the adjacent garage. As she turned to close the garage door, she saw a person, later identified as Lane, standing in her doorway.

When she tried to close the door, Lane forced it open and pushed her into the house. He then bound the victim’s hands with duct tape, carried her upstairs, laid her on a bed in her bedroom and sexually assaulted her. Lane fled the scene after the attack, the office said.

The victim called 911 and was taken to a local hospital for medical attention.

After an investigation, authorities identified Lane as a suspect in the case. Addison police took him into custody on December 2, 2021, and he remained in the DuPage County Jail following his arrest.

According to the jury’s verdict, Lane had originally faced a prison sentence of up to 120 years.

The office said Lane must serve 85% of his sentence before he is eligible for parole. He will also receive credit for the time he spent in the DuPage County Jail.
