Jeremy Renner reveals filming difficulties after near-fatal accident

A year after a devastating accident that nearly took his life, Jeremy Renner was back at work filming the third season of Mayor of Kingstown in January. He realized he wasn’t quite as far along in his recovery as he thought and shared that he worked a little too hard in the beginning.

The actor’s near-fatal accident occurred on New Year’s Day in 2023. While driving a snow plow vehicle, Renner was crushed while trying to get his nephew out of harm’s way. He suffered serious injuries, including no fewer than 38 broken bones and a collapsed lung. When he returned to work earlier this year, Renner fell asleep during filming after realizing he was more drained than he expected.

The Nova series gets an update after Disney scales back MCU content

The long-running Nova project is getting an update from Marvel Studios boss Brad Winderbaum.

“They say, ‘And action!’ And I was out” Renner recalled to the LA Times. “We recognized her I worked too hard, too many hours, too many days in a row. What I am ready To do is everything but what I am capable to do is something else.”

The production team was very accommodating to Renner. Recognizing his difficulties, the shooting schedule was changed to significantly protect the actor’s body. One change was to rearrange the schedule so that Renner no longer had to fly to set as often, as jet lag has become more severe on his body. Renner joked about these adjustments: “You have to treat me like I’m a child actor. The mayor of Kingstown is like a 14-year-old now.”
