A state police cruiser was struck during a vehicle stop on I-84 East in Middlebury – NBC Connecticut

A state police cruiser was struck Friday evening while the trooper was conducting a vehicle stop on Interstate 84 East in Middlebury.

State police said the trooper turned on his emergency lights when he stopped a Hyundai Sonata around 11:15 p.m. Both vehicles were parked on the right side of the road near exit 17.

According to investigators, during the traffic stop, a Toyota RAV4 collided with the front driver’s side of the patrol car and then with the rear of the Hyundai Sonata.

After the collision, the Toyota RAV4 flipped onto its roof and went out of action in the right lane of the highway.

The officer and the other two drivers were all transported to various hospitals to receive treatment for minor injuries.

The crash is still under investigation. No charges were filed.
