13-year-old was sexually abused for 2 years by a 29-year-old relative and infected with a sexually transmitted disease

When Ama’s teacher noticed her unusually reserved behavior, she went to her to find out what was going on. Ama gave her teacher a note that said: “I have a sexually transmitted disease and I’m suffering from it. I wish I were a boy.”

When the teacher learned of the abuse, he reported the case to the police, which led to the arrest of the 29-year-old man. During questioning, the man confessed to the crimes. However, the woman with whom both Ama and the perpetrator lived helped him get bail, which further complicated the case. Since then, there have been attempts to thwart the search for justice.

According to Pulse sources, the alleged perpetrator prescribed the girl contraceptives such as Postinor No. 2 and Lydia.

The woman has accused Ama of being a “bad girl” and claimed she seduced the man. Although the case was reported to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), there are doubts about the integrity of the investigation.

According to Syndny on X, it appears that the woman exerted influence and the officer in charge of the case, a woman, did not pursue the case as diligently as expected.

Attempts were made to bribe Ama’s teacher to drop the case, but he refused. Threats were then made and Ama has not returned to school. Worryingly, she still lives with the woman and her abuser.

The outraged public demands justice and protection for Ama.

The case has raised concerns about the prevalence of child abuse in Ghana and the need for greater support and protection for victims.
