Seal Beach police search for woman suspected of stealing sculpture – NBC Los Angeles

Authorities in Seal Beach attempted to find a woman who may have stolen a sculpture from an antique store by releasing surveillance images of the suspected woman on Tuesday.

The miniature version of the neoclassical European sculpture “Three Graces” was stolen from the Alamitos Antiques store on Main Street, according to Seal Beach police.

The $800 statue depicts the three mythological sisters, said to be the daughters of Zeus, to represent a gift to humanity: happiness, elegance and youth/beauty.

The department released screenshots from the surveillance video showing a woman with red hair wearing a white shirt with black dots and jeans.

“Someone should inform our suspect that she is featured on this site,” the police department’s social media messages said. Investigators hoped one of the department’s 50,000 social media followers would alert them.

“I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to appear on this page like this,” the post said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Jacob Otto at 562-799-4100, extension 1109.

“If you know this person and don’t want to call us, tell them to return the sculpture to Alamitos Antiques. An apology would be a good idea too,” the department’s sarcastic-humored message said. “Remember, folks. Don’t steal from Seal.”
