Assistant doctors at ABUTH suspend warning strike

The Zaria branch of the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) yesterday called off its five-day warning strike.

The doctors began their strike yesterday because, among other things, they object to the percentage salary payment to their members on the GIFMIS platform and the non-payment of equipment allowances.

NARD Vice President Ashiru Mikail told reporters in Zaria that after reaching a solution with the hospital management, they had decided to suspend the strike.

He said: “The management has made serious efforts to meet the association’s demands.

“The management has promised to stop paying percentage salaries to our members, which is one of the association’s complaints.”
