Lane narrowing on I-5 at Nisqually River Bridge, cracks discovered – KIRO 7 News Seattle

THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. – The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will reduce lanes on northbound Interstate 5 (I-5) at the Nisqually River Bridge to repair cracks in the bridge.

The cracks were discovered during a routine inspection beneath the bridge deck.

WSDOT recommends that travelers between Lacey and Tacoma travel before or after the planned work.

The work is expected to take place on Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28 from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m.

During this time, travelers should expect delays as northbound lanes will be reduced from three to two.

Given the size of the vehicles involved in bridge construction and the risks of working over water, the lane reduction and the time allocated will enable crews to work safely during daylight hours.
