Pedestrian hit and killed by car on Avenue 12 in Madera County

MADERA COUNTY, CA (July 22, 2024) – A man died in a pedestrian accident on Avenue 12 near Street 25.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred on Wednesday morning around 3:40 a.m. For an unknown reason, a man and a woman wearing dark clothing were crossing Avenue 12. The two were then struck in the dark by a 44-year-old man driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado westbound.

Minutes later, paramedics arrived and took the 24-year-old woman from Clovis to Community Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. The man died at the scene. Authorities have not released his identity.

After the accident, police questioned the driver and ruled out drunk driving as a possible factor.
