Hoopeston police arrest two people for suspected meth possession

HOOPESTON – Hoopeston police arrested two men Thursday for suspected possession of methamphetamine.

Hoopeston police arrested 42-year-old Anthony J. Chandler around 1 a.m. near West Maple Street and South First Avenue after determining he had a Vermilion County warrant for failure to appear in court for suspected possession of methamphetamine.

Chandler was taken to the Danville Public Safety Building to await arraignment.

Hoopeston police subsequently arrested 48-year-old Robert Phillips near the 800 block of East Main Street at approximately 9:54 a.m. after determining that he had an outstanding Douglas County warrant for his arrest for allegedly violating the Sex Offender Act.

Phillips was also allegedly in possession of methamphetamine and was taken to the Danville Public Safety Building to await arraignment and extradition to Douglas County.
