Thomas Matthew Crooks researched the British royal family before Trump’s attack

The gunman who attempted to kill Donald Trump over the weekend was researching a member of the British royal family before the weekend attack, according to a report. In a briefing with members of Congress on Wednesday, FBI officials said Thomas Matthew Crooks used one of his phones to search for several prominent figures, including the royal, The New York Times was reported without providing the person’s identity. The 20-year-old would-be assassin had also visited both Trump and President Joe Biden, as well as Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray, before the shooting. No motive has yet been identified for the attack on Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday that left the former president injured and one rally attendee dead (two other attendees were also seriously injured). Crooks was also killed in the assassination. Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles III sent Trump a private message after the attack wishing the injured Republican well.
