Student reports break-in and sexual abuse in Penn State dorm

Pennsylvania State University Police are investigating a reported burglary and sexual assault at a University Park dormitory.

A student “reported that an unknown assailant entered his dorm room without notice and assaulted him” between 3 and 7 a.m. Monday morning in the East Halls housing complex, according to a Timely warning issued by Penn State University Police.

The Clery Act requires colleges and universities to issue timely warnings when certain crimes, including sexual offenses, are reported on campus.

The identity of the suspected attacker is unknown and no description was provided in the alert.

It is the second timely warning issued in University Park this month. A student reported on July 8 of being sexually assaulted by a known person in a dormitory on the south side of campus. This case is still open, according to a police report.
