Rape: Man charged with raping his relative after 31 years | News from Chandigarh

Hisar: 31 years after a man in Haryana allegedly raped his daughter-in-law, Hisar police have registered a criminal case against him. Police have launched an investigation. Police said the case was filed on the woman’s complaint against her father-in-law under sections 64 (rape), 66 (causing hurt during rape), 70 (gang rape) and 71 (repeat offender) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. According to the complaint, the survivor, who married in 1993, has a son and a daughter from the marriage and both are married. A week after the wedding, when she came to her in-laws’ house in Hisar, her husband was not there. At around 10-11 pm, her father-in-law came to her room and raped her after beating her. That night, her husband did not come home and when she told the whole matter to her mother-in-law the next morning, she did not take any action. In the meantime, her father-in-law raped her several times, she said. Police said a case had been registered but preliminary investigation revealed that it was a case of family dispute. If after investigation the allegations are found to be true, the accused will be arrested, police said.
