(07-12-2024) Elderly man killed after collision with four vehicles on Highway 4

An 88-year-old man was killed in a four-vehicle crash near Stockton on Friday afternoon, July 12, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 12:38 p.m. on Highway 4 near Gillis Road.

Authorities said the crash involved a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe, a 2021 Dodge Ram pickup, a 2022 Honda Civic, and a 2015 Ford F550 crane truck. The Chevy was traveling east on the highway when it came to a stop waiting to make a left turn onto Gillis Road.

Meanwhile, the two vehicles behind the Chevy, the Dodge Ram pickup and the Honda Civic, also came to a stop. However, the Ford crashed into the rear of the Honda Civic, resulting in a four-vehicle pileup.

The driver of the Honda Civic, an 88-year-old man, suffered cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead at the scene. At the time of this writing, it is unknown if anyone else was injured.

The authorities have not yet had to publish any further information.

The investigation is ongoing.
