Police in North Carolina remain vigilant after shooting at Trump rally

The events of Saturday’s shooting at a campaign rally for former President Donald Trump in Pennsylvania have put authorities in North Carolina on high alert.

WRAL News spoke with State Capitol Police officials about whether they plan to increase security measures in the coming days.

A spokesman said they would continue to monitor events.

A few months ago, several state law enforcement agencies, including the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a training on how to ensure the safety of celebrities visiting the Triangle.

Shooting at Trump rally: North Carolina lawmakers demand accountability and pray

The Wake County Sheriff’s Office issued the following statement to WRAL News.

“While we do not have information about any credible threats on the ground, we are prepared to monitor any incidents in our area. Our office is in close contact with our federal, state and local partners.”
