Fishtown, Liberia, July 10, 2024 – Fishtown, River Gee County – Police in Fishtown City, River Gee County, have arrested two suspects, identified as Paul Daddy, 30, and Eric Juwah, 17, for the alleged abuse of two minors in the county.

The suspects are both residents of Gbeapo Joquiken, River Gee, but were arrested by the Liberian National Police on July 4, 2024 on suspicion of raping 12 and 8 year old minors.

One of the minors described the ordeal to the head of the Liberian National Police’s Child Protection Division, saying she and her friend Vicky went to a pump to fetch water at around 9 p.m. when suspect Paul Daddy called her to watch a video on his phone.

“So my girlfriend and I went inside, but I didn’t know that the suspect Paul Daddy had such a plan and he persuaded me in his room and had sexual intercourse with me while my girlfriend was still watching a video on the porch,” she claimed.

The minor further stated that after the crime, the suspected father gave her 400 Liberian dollars and asked her not to tell anyone about it.

But when the two returned home, their friend informed the victim’s mother, and the mother immediately reported the incident to the Liberian National Police in River Gee.

The minor was immediately taken to Fishtown Referral Hospital for medical evaluation. The health facility staff determined that the minor had been sexually abused.

Following the complaint, the suspect Paul was arrested by the Liberian National Police. During the preliminary police investigation, he admitted the crime and asked for forgiveness.

At the same time, suspect Eric Juwah, a Grade 10 student of Gbeapo Multilateral High School in Kanweaken City, River Gee County, was also arrested on suspicion of rape of a minor aged eight (8) years.

According to the minor’s mother, she strangely observed her daughter, in a weak state, regularly smearing herself with toilet and urine. When she confronted her about it, the minor stated that the suspect, Eric Juwah, allegedly had sexual intercourse with her both in the anus and in her virginity.

During the police investigation, the mother stated that her daughter had previously told her that the suspect had come home from school, picked up the victim at home, taken her to her room and allegedly had sexual intercourse with her, which had caused bleeding.

But the suspect denied the allegation. Both suspects were jailed in River Gee for sexual abuse of a minor and are awaiting trial. Edited by Jonathan Browne
