HOUSTON — There has been no shortage of calls for service in the city of Houston as Hurricane Beryl left a path of flooding and debris in its wake over the past few days.

KHOU11 News took a closer look at exactly where these 311 calls are coming from and built a map to show which areas have been particularly hard hit.

Houston 311 has received more than 1,200 storm-related calls since Sunday, when Beryl’s outer bands began to bear down on the city, including calls about street hazards, traffic light maintenance and storm debris removal.

The city of Houston typically receives fewer than 50 calls a day for these issues, according to historical 311 data.

The service calls received in Houston were as follows:

  • Street Danger: 623
  • Traffic light maintenance: 288
  • Storm Debris Collection: 186
  • Power outage in Beryl: 117
  • Flood: 23
  • Electrical hazard: 12
  • Traffic signals: 2
  • Total number of calls as of 6 a.m. Tuesday: 1,251

From the map and list, many issues appear to be going unreported, with few calls in some neighborhoods where damage is widespread.

The city of Houston received 1,140 calls for the same types of problems during the first week of the month, for comparison.
