87th anniversary of the Lugou Bridge Incident celebrated in Beijing

BEIJING, July 7 (Xinhua) — Sunday marks the 87th anniversary of the start of China’s nationwide war of resistance against Japanese aggression.

The historic Lugou Bridge Incident occurred 87 years ago on July 7, 1937 at the Lugou Bridge outside the city of Wanping.

The incident is considered the beginning of Japan’s large-scale invasion of China and the resistance of the entire Chinese nation against the Japanese invaders.
