One person died and several others were injured following the incident on Sunday

One person was killed and several others were injured in an incident at a home in St. Johnsbury early Sunday morning. Authorities said St. Johnsbury police were called to Cottage Street around 5:50 a.m. for an altercation at a home. When officers arrived at the home, they found one person dead and several others with apparent injuries. VSP said the victims were taken to nearby hospitals and as of Sunday morning, their conditions were unknown. State police are leading the investigation into the incident. Initial findings from investigators indicate it was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. VSP said they believe the people involved in the incident know each other and can be identified. VSP’s Major Crime Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Field Force Division, Crime Scene Search Team and Victim Services Unit will all be involved in the initial phases of the investigation on Sunday. St. Johnsbury police are providing assistance. Authorities have not yet identified the person killed. Her body was transported to the Burlington Detention Center to determine cause and manner of death. The names of those involved will be released after further investigation and next of kin will be notified, VSP said. When officers arrived at the residence, they found one person dead and several others with apparent injuries. VSP said the victims were taken to nearby hospitals and their conditions were unknown as of Sunday morning.

The investigation into the incident is being led by the State Police.

Initial investigations by investigators indicate that this was an isolated incident and that there is no danger to the public. VSP assumes that the people involved in the incident know each other and have been arrested.

The VSP Major Crimes Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Field Force Division, Crime Scene Search Team and Victim Services Unit will all be involved in the first phase of the investigation on Sunday. St. Johnsbury Police are assisting.

Authorities have not yet determined the identity of the person killed. Her body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Burlington for an investigation into the cause and manner of death.

The names of the people involved will be announced after further investigations and relatives will be notified, VSP said.
