Suspect arrested after confrontation with police in Compton

Two suspects were arrested Friday evening after they came into conflict with police officers following a chase through several cities.

The male driver pulled into a parking lot in the 500 block of South Long Beach Boulevard in Compton and was surrounded by officers but refused to get out.

A spike strip was applied and the suspect initially remained standing in the parking lot before slowly moving forward as officers approached from behind.

As the driver slowly drove forward, the suspect was suddenly surrounded by several patrol cars. Eventually, pepper balls were fired at the vehicle, entering the car through the open driver’s side window.

The driver and a passenger eventually left the car, turned themselves in and were taken into custody.

The chase went through the Lakewood and Long Beach areas and ended in the Compton parking lot in front of a Bank of America.

Footage of the standoff will be available shortly. This breaking story will be updated.
